Teamwork

We talk about it a lot, but what does it really mean? There is an exercise used by National Team rowing coaches with their single scullers, where the sculler puts their name on a single, plain, inflated balloon, and is then asked to balance on it. They can’t.  The coach then gives balloons to the other members of the rowing team, the single sculler’s family members, the massage therapist, coaches, and asks them to blow them up and put their name on the balloon. Then, the single sculler is asked to try and balance on all of the balloons.  Guess what? The sculler is held up, supported by air and thin layers of rubber, things that individually couldn’t hold the rower’s weight together hold them aloft. This exercise is done to show both the single scullers and the rest of the people around them that individuals do not reach the heights of performance on their own, there always needs to be a team behind them, supporting them in their endeavours.

Thinking about this exercise made me think about the realtors at Whistler Real Estate. Many of them are like the single scullers, some work in pairs, but everyone of them is supported by an administrative team that helps the Realtors do what they do best. When choosing to work with one of the realtors in the office, you are not only represented by an individual, but by an entire team of people working together.
