And so, the season that was comes to an end. We had a great season, a season that has tried to keep on going (and going, and going). Snow was everywhere here, and lucky for us on a purely business level, nowhere else, and the skiing was phenomenal. I was recently doing the crossword puzzle in the Pique and one of the clues was “traveling on powder,” and it took me all of about two minutes, or until I heard bombs going off in the distance, and it came to me (spoiler alert here): Skiing. Now, some years, skiing would not be my first answer. I was in Whistler for the Winter of ’05. Yup. That was one year that it was good to like biking because we were out on the trails by February first. This Winter of ’12 is turning out to be not such a great one for those chomping on the bit to get on their bikes. I have been running out in the trails and while the single track is ready, you could skate ski to the trail heads if you wanted too! Yes, I know
Blackcomb is still open, and has been extended to May 28th for those of you who really can't get enough.
So, to recap, the snow season (which is not quite over yet) has been fantastic. Our Australian tenant is in heaven. His last three weeks in Canada, he has been on his board every day. Sometimes in chest deep powder. Sometimes in the sun. Always having fun. And isn’t that the best part of Whistler…the fun that you expect and the fun that comes out of nowhere and lasts way past when you expect.
