Weekend Warrior to Whistler Home Owner

October 20, 2016
Large gathering of people enjoying the snow

It’s 6am on Saturday morning, you should be in bed, but instead you’re getting in the car to head up to Whistler. Coffee in hand, gear in the trunk, and that excited yearning for the slopes!

If this sounds familiar then it is quite likely that you are a Whistler weekend warrior. Like many others you make the trip up the Sea to Sky at the first hint of snowfall and throughout the year spend the majority of your weekends in Whistler.

For some this is the ideal, but you may be looking for more. Making a permanent move to Whistler is a big decision, but one which you will not regret!

Deciding to make the move

Deciding to move anywhere can be a daunting prospect and you need to be certain it is the right decision for you. But, there also comes a point where you need to stop debating and take the leap!

Living in Whistler isn’t for everyone. In most cases it comes down to a lifestyle choice, and one that only you can make. Whether it’s just you or your family, talk it through and decide if it’s right for you.

What we can say is that, speaking from experience, once you make the move you will not look back!

Finding the right property

Once you have decided to make the move it’s time to find the right property to suit your needs. The best route is to find a knowledgeable Realtor who you can trust and who thoroughly understands your requirements.

In terms of properties there is something for everyone, whether it’s a one bedroom condo, multi-bedroom townhome, or luxury chalet. Talk to your agent about what you want and they will be able to find the best option for you.

Living in Whistler

After making the move you can now relax! No more early morning weekends, racing up the Sea to Sky, Whistler is now on your doorstep (although you may still want to get up early to hit the slopes!).

The community is incredibly welcoming and you will settle into the lifestyle quicker than you think. Before long you will wonder how you ever lived anywhere else!

However, for some, making the permanent move to Whistler may not be what you want. Don’t worry though as there are still a lot of options. In these cases buyers may opt for phase 1 or 2 properties, allowing them to rent when not occupying, or even quarter shares or ownermatch.
