World ski and snowboard festival

The World Ski and Snowboard Festival is one of Whistler’s most anticipated events of the year. Taking place on April 8-17, the festival sees thousands of people descend on the village for ten days of free concerts, art shows, big air competitions, skiing, riding and partying.

The event is Canada’s largest free outdoor concert series and also showcases action sports, fashion, photography, art and film.

With so much going on over the ten days, the festival really sums up why so many people choose to live in Whistler. From the sports to the culture, and sense of community, you get a great feel for what Whistler is about.

Adventure

First of all, the festival is an incredible showcase of sporting ability, with world-class skiers and snowboarders coming from all over to compete.

It is a chance to enjoy some of the best athletes showing off their impressive skills. It is also an opportunity to hit the slopes yourself and see what makes Whistler Blackcomb one of the best resorts in the world.

Whether you are a regular visitor, long time local, or coming to Whistler for the first time, the festival brings everyone together through a mutual love. The sense of adventure instilled as you drive up the Sea-to-Sky Highway is never lost, no matter how many times you make the trip.

Lifestyle

Whistler offers an amazing lifestyle, one that many fall in love with and choose not to leave. There is a special work/life balance for those who make the area their home. Every employer offers a certain amount of flexibility, especially on powder days!

In the summer when the days are long and sunny, you can finish work and enjoy the sunshine for hours by the lake, or on the mountain. The WSSF gives visitors a glimpse at this lifestyle, with events, nights out, music, and of course skiing and snowboarding.

Culture

Along with skiing and snowboarding, one of the festival’s biggest attractions is the free concerts, along with comedy, art and film events held throughout the ten days.

Visitors and locals are treated to some great shows from international and local artists, all taking place at the base of Whistler Mountain!

Other events taking place during the festival include comedy nights, a filmmaker showdown, and photography showdown. All of these work perfectly to showcase what Whistler is all about, and the diversities of those who call it home.
