5 Things Your Whistler Real Estate Agent Wants You to Know!

Whistler Real Estate Office

As a realtor in Whistler, or any part of the world, it is our job to make sure you have an informed decision when it comes to all things real estate. However, as with any economic crisis comes a bit of uncertainty in the market – trust us, this isn’t our first time dealing with one! We know it can be overwhelming to get caught up in the news of other real estate markets, but we want to remind you that real estate is first and foremost a local phenomenon. And when it comes to the current COVID-19 pandemic, here is an update on the Whistler Marketplace from us, The Whistler Real Estate Company, who have been in this business for over 40 years, with five things we’d like you to know.

There IS Market Activity

Although activity is slower, transactions are occurring. Since March 15th, 2020, 36 new transactions have been reported in Whistler and Pemberton. Interestingly, we have seen more sales over 4 million dollars in the last 45 days since the pandemic shutdown, than we did in the 45 days prior to the shutdown.

We are Doing Showings and Fielding Inquiries

With low interest rates, favorable currency exchange, and a historically low number of listings, we are regularly out helping buyers and sellers. However, due to the circumstances and with real estate being deemed an essential service, we are understandably doing business differently. This means we are focusing on personal safety by doing more virtual interactions. Keep an eye out for our Virtual Open Houses, stay in touch with your realtor via Zoom and, even though it may not seem like it, it is still business as usual. Whistler remains a desirable investment for many, despite the overall uncertainty.

Whistler is still Whistler

Despite the restrictions in travel and tourism, and the need to respect social distancing by doing our part, Whistler is unchanged. In fact, it is showing its true colours as a helpful, determined community. Many businesses have adapted and created unique initiatives to keep going, and its residents are stepping up in a number of ways to show its support for local charities, front line workers and each other. As an outdoor destination, we know the sooner we get through this together, the faster we can back to enjoying our backyard.

Businesses are Open

Although we are all operating differently, we are adapting and changing to provide the services you need. Whether it’s shopping online at a local store with delivery to your doorstep, take out from many of our best restaurants or professional services offered virtually, we are all stepping up in unique ways to persevere. For the time being, short term accommodation is understandably limited, but will be operating soon.

It Will Get Better

Things may seem a little uncertain but having been a part of this community for over  40 years, we can assure you that when this is over Whistler will still be here. It will still be that place you and your family love to explore and enjoy. In fact, it may even be better than it was before. We look forward to seeing you in person soon – hang in there!

Now more than ever, it is important to be working with a local, knowledgeable agent that can help you navigate these uncertain times and help you stay focused and confident in the future. Do not hesitate to reach out to our advisors. We will be happy to talk with you by email, zoom, whatsapp, phone, skype or in person (with a mask) at your convenience.
