There are so many activities to choose from in Whistler, that sometimes it can seem overwhelming. Most who venture to the action packed town are aware of the snowboarding, skiing and other common winter sports. This list provides some alternative activities when you have fallen one too many times on your board, or are just looking for something new and different to try out.

  1. Indoor Rock Climbing

The Core fitness facility boasts a 5,500 square-foot indoor rock climbing wall for kids and adults alike. Rock climbing is referred to as “active socializing”, and it is a fun alternative to braving the elements of climbing outdoors, and more active than just going for a pint at the local pub. There are belay lessons and all types of classes to choose from, as well as group or individual rates. Routes include the easier crack climbing all the way up to the more difficult slab climbing.

  1. Axe Throwing

The only indoor venue in Whistler to be found is Forged Axe Throwing. Test your aim for a solo evening of stress relief, or with a group event lasting about two hours. No need for prior skills, and you are guaranteed a good time and empowering experience!

  1. Ziplining

Do you want to whip through the trees and enjoy the amazing views of Whistler without the sore aftermath of boarding or skiing? Then ziplining might be just the thing. You can experience the thrill of ripping through the canopies through both Superfly and Ziptrek, offering great ziplining adventures year round.

  1. Paintball

Paintball is a popular team shooting sport that can be fun for special events like bachelor parties and team building functions. A pro speedball field and a kid’s splatmaster for ages 6-12 are both available at Avalanche Paintball Whistler. Their air compressor gives the option of both the 3000psi or 4500psi, which is unique to their facility. Get ready for a high intensity and fun game that has a healthy dose of competition to keep the adrenaline running.

  1. Escape Room

Escape rooms have become increasingly popular in recent years as an alternative challenging activity. Whistler’s Original Escape Room Facility has 4 themes to choose from to get creative, interact with your team and solve the mystery to escape! If you are stuck along the way, you may receive only two clues, so use them wisely!

  1. Bobsleighing

An alternative snow and slopes activity during the winter months is bobsleighing! The Whistler Sliding Centre has the fastest ice track in the world! After hosting the 2010 Olympic Winter Games the centre has grown to incorporate novices on passenger bobsleighs during the winter and summer months down the 1,450 meter-long ice track. All proceeds from visitor fees go back into the training expenses for the athletes competing in future games.

  1. Bungee Jumping

If you’re looking for a truly exhilarating alternative experience, then Whistler Bungee might be the perfect fit. Jumping 160 feet over the glacial fed Cheakamus River will be an experience you will never forget! It is conveniently located close to the Village but is surrounded by old growth forests and basalt cliffs, making BC’s highest year-round jump even more spectacular.
