Non-Winter Activties in Whistler

There’s no doubt that Whistler is famous for its snowy slopes and wide array of winter activities. But as it turns out, there’s a lot more to do here than just play in the snow.

Whether you’re too sore to even think about spending another day on the mountain, or you were never a fan of the cold weather to start with, you’ll be happy to hear that there are plenty of non-snow activities to enjoy around town.

And if it’s pouring with rain outside and you don’t fancy the mountain, here are just a few activities to get you inspired.

What to do on a rainy day in Whistler:

Skip Straight to Apres

Disregard anyone who says you have to earn your apres to enjoy it. While the rest of the world is soaking up the last few runs of the day, head to your favourite patio and stake out the prime table. Trust us: that beer and burger will taste just as good even if you weren’t on the slopes all day.

Get Your Mountain Fix with Mountain Pose

Whistler has a very active yoga community: whether you’re a well-practiced yogi or a brand new to the world of yoga, there’s a studio and a class that’s perfect for you.

Yama Yoga and YogaCara are conveniently located right in the village, or you can check out White Gold Yoga – it’s very popular with locals. Loka Yoga is a great option for those in Creekside. But the ultimate way to combat the winter blues: a steamy hot yoga class at Yyoga in Function Junction.

Spaaahs

Indulge in a well-deserved massage, facial, manicure, or pedicure – or heck, why not go for all four. Whistler’s hotels are decked out with some incredible luxury spas, so treat yourself to a serene afternoon at the spa.

If you’re looking for something a little different, check out the Scandinave Spa. It offers a unique hydrotherapy experience in an unbelievably gorgeous wilderness setting. Believe us: that snow looks a lot better from inside a bubbling hot tub.

Float Your Heart Out

West Coast Float is a relatively new Whistler business that is generating a lot of buzz. If you’ve never tried float therapy, you need to check it out. Throughout your 90-minute float, you’ll experience total sensory deprivation. It’ll bliss you out like nothing you’ve ever experienced.

Go For a Swim

Just because it’s winter, it doesn’t mean you can’t swim! Head to Meadow Park Sports Centre: the lap pool is calling your name (and the hot tub is the perfect place to unwind afterwards). There’s a sauna, a full gym, and plenty of fitness classes to check out every day of the week.

Celebrate Culture

Cornucopia. The Whistler Film Festival. The Deep Winter Pro Photography Challenge. Rotating exhibits at Millennium Place. The various art shows, film contests, and photography competitions at the World Ski and Snowboard Festival.

Whistler’s cultural scene is a happening place: there are celebrations of local and international talent happening throughout the year. Pick up tickets to one of these events to experience a different side of Whistler – we have a feeling you’ll like what you see.
