Visiting Whistler for the First Time

Located less than two hours north of Vancouver, Whistler is known as one of the world’s best ski resorts and mountain bike park. Visiting Whistler for the first time is one of the most exciting feelings and you are guaranteed to have an incredible time.

There is so much to do year-round it can be hard to know where to start. To give you a little helping hand, we asked some of our agents for their tips for first time visitors, along with some must-do activities. Here’s what they said:

  1. Go skiing

As North America’s number one ski resort, for many this will be the reason for visiting Whistler. The huge amount of terrain and consistent snowfall make the resort one of the best in the world.

There are runs to suit all abilities, so whether you’re an expert or it’s your first time on the slopes, there is something for everyone.

  1. Go biking

Hidden underneath the winter’s snow is arguably the world’s best mountain bike park. For those visiting in summer you will notice the skis replaced with mountain bikes and an equal amount of excitement to hit the lifts.

But it’s not just on the mountain – there are trails all over Whistler and, much like the ski runs, they cater to all levels.

  1. Take a ride on the Peak2Peak

The Peak2Peak links Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains with the longest unsupported cable car in the world. Take a ride and enjoy a fantastic aerial view of the Whistler Village and surrounding landscape.

  1. Enjoy some après

Almost as famous as the skiing is the après! Whistler has plenty of bars offering various after ski specials for you to enjoy alongside people visiting from all over the world.

  1. Dine out

There are some incredible restaurants in Whistler to suit all tastes and moods. Whether you’re looking for something casual, or a multi-course fine-dining experience, Whistler has you covered.

  1. See what’s on

With so much going on year-round there is always something to keep you occupied. From free concerts, competitions, and film festivals, to sporting events, gigs, and more. Take a look at what’s happening when during your stay.

  1. Take a hike

One of the best and easiest ways to get outside and explore the scenery is by going on a hike. There area has tons of trails to choose from, whether you want a stroll through the valley, or want to head up one of the mountains and take in the views.

  1. Have an adventure

Whistler is full of adventures. From the skiing and snowboarding, to biking and hiking. But it doesn’t end there. Why not contact one of the local adventure companies and try out bungee jumping, zip lining, snow mobiling, or one of the many other activities on offer!?

  1. Go shopping

Along with the many bars and restaurants in the village, there are also tons of shops to enjoy. Hit the stroll and be a tourist!

  1. Relax

After all of the activities on offer you deserve a rest, after all you’re here on holiday! Whistler has tons of places to relax, whether you want to sit by a lake, or go all out and head to one of the local spas!
