It’s not surprising that many who visit Whistler have imagined what it must be like to live in a resort community. With two mountains’ worth of skiing, biking and hiking trails, plus kilometres of backcountry and a renowned village hub, Whistler offers a pretty long list of adventures literally right outside your door.

But let’s not forget about the windows, which most likely will face a snow-capped mountain vista or enchanted-looking forest. It’s hard to imagine a more perfect place to live, right?

Amongst its slope-side chalets and quaint, forest-tucked homes, Whistler also features unique lakeside and semi-waterfront properties and developments.

Of course, it shouldn’t be surprising that Whistler offers lakefront real estate. After all, long before there were ski hills and chairlifts or even a renowned village hub with an infamous après and nightlife scene – there was Alta Lake.

In 1914, Alta Lake was where Alex and Myrtle Philip established Rainbow Lodge fishing resort. Within a few years, thanks to legendary hospitality, a spectacular setting and excellent fishing, the Philips expanded Rainbow Lodge with cabins until it could accommodate 100 people and soon became known as the most popular resort west of Banff and Jasper.

Many other lodges were built around Alta and nearby lakes due to this burgeoning summer tourist trade. Of course that all changed with the development of the ski hill in the 1960s and those resort lodges no longer remain.

Scenary

But the idyllic lakefront locations still do, as well as the opportunity to make this kind of Whistler resort living your own personal adventure. The Whistler area features a number of bodies of water with properties offering incredible lakeside living opportunities.

Whistler’s Green Lake Estates  sits right on the shore of the emerald waters of Green Lake, where you’ll find the ultimate lakeside residence; 8993 Trudy’s Landing.
