Whistler Realtor Q&A: Jon Chaudhari

Q: Why did you move to Whistler?
A: To ski! I had just returned from back-packing through Europe in 1989. I was too late to register for my last year of University so decided to keep travelling and see what Whistler was all about. I was hired as a lifty on 7th Heaven even though I didn’t really know how to ski! Those early days were truly amazing and I quickly realized this was the place for me.
Q: When did you get into Real Estate?
A: 15 years ago. I had met Pat Kelly a few years earlier at Big Sky and knew I wanted to work with him at The Whistler Real Estate Co.
Q: What do you enjoy about the lifestyle here?
A: We’re surrounded with beauty and have so many recreational opportunities to enjoy. The community is really young at heart, very health-oriented. We’re so fortunate.
Q: What advice would you give to someone looking to buy property here?
A: Whistler has all kinds of options for every taste & budget. Take your time and explore the market, be patient but not afraid to move on something we find that fits your needs.
Q: What is your favourite thing about working with your clients?
A: Real estate is very dynamic and I’m thankful to have worked with many different buyers & sellers over the years. I’ve learnt from them all and my business continues to grow as a result.
Q: What is your favourite season and why?
A: I don’t really have a favourite: I love winter storms as much as long summer days.
Q: If you were not a real estate agent, what would you be?
A: A retiree!
Q: What makes you smile the most?
A: Steep & deep powder!
Q: How do you decompress or how would you spend your ideal day?
A: Après just about anywhere! Seriously though, any quality time with family & friends is a good day for me.
Q: What accomplishment do you consider to be the most significant in your career or in your life?
A: Moving to Whistler was a game-changer. I grew up in a small town and I knew I wanted to settle in a small town where success was measured by a healthy lifestyle, not a title on a business card.
Q: Finally, in one sentence, why should people come live here?
A: Whistler is one of those very special places that offers incredible opportunities to work & play in a clean and safe, health-oriented community.
