Whistler Realtor Q&A: Lisa Hilton

June 21, 2018
Lisa Hilton

Q: What brought you to Pemberton?

A: We moved our family up to Pemberton for the fresh air, mountains, backcountry lifestyle and to start my business.

Q: What did you do when you first arrived?

A: I was an organic gardener living on 20 acres in the Meadows, it was a wonderful introduction to Pemberton. In the first years all our free time was spent out exploring the area and swimming in the lakes, which is how we ended up in the Gates lake area.

Q: How did you get into real estate?

A: It was a natural progression. We decided to buy up by the lake and did a lot of research about the area and about the town of Pemberton itself. My family’s background is in general contracting so I’d always loved houses and the more research I did about local real estate, the more passionate I became to know more. I’ve always been entrepreneurial and loved helping people, so it was an intuitive fit. Being a Realtor is hard work but it’s a wonderful job.

Q: What do you enjoy about the lifestyle here?

A: The mountains are a very special place. Anyone who visits Pemberton understands. The fresh air, lakes, and natural wonder are daily enjoyments for us. The people in Pemberton are really what makes it home. Whether it’s skiing, biking, spending time at the lake or hiking One Mile Lake, you’ll always see folks out enjoying nature and giving a friendly wave to neighbours. It’s a great place to raise a family.

Q: What advice would you give to someone looking to buy in Pemberton?

A: My best advice, give me a call! But really, I would suggest hiring a local agent who really knows the area and works with you to help make finding your new home easier.

Q: What’s your favourite thing about working with your clients?

A: My favourite thing is helping families find their home. It’s not just buying or selling a house, these are the walls that a family builds their memories in. Being a Realtor means you get to be part of that experience. I love new beginnings, they’re my favourite thing about working with my clients.

Q: What do you think you’d do if you weren’t a realtor?

A: I can’t imagine doing anything else. I love helping people and I get to do it everyday, it’s why I get up in the morning!

Q: How do you decompress or how would you spend your ideal day?

A: Out in the fresh air somewhere in the backcountry or by a lake with family and friends. I try to get out as much as I can to enjoy the mountains.

Q: What is it like raising a family in Pemberton?

A: Pemberton is a wonderful community for raising kids. It’s why we see so many young couples moving here to raise theirs. The community centre, bike park, trails, mountains and lakes, there’s always something outdoors to do with your family.

Q: What accomplishment do you consider to be the most significant in your career?

A: My decision to be an entrepreneur. Being an entrepreneur is difficult but also rewarding. It takes a lot of hard work and long hours but you get to build something yourself and really help people for a living.

Q: Finally, in one sentence, why should people come to live here?

A: Pemberton’s a growing community and has so much to offer for families, young couples and as a place for retirement – the views are unparalleled, the outdoor lifestyle is at your doorstep, the locally grown food is abundant, and the people who make up our community are wonderful.
